On USS Blue Ridge off the Coast of RVN - During the Spring of '75, HMM-165 (Composite) was assigned the task of evacuating assets from South Vietnam before the remaining area was over run.Here, Scott Chugg, Paul Smith and Harry Cunningham are leaning against Dave Routsons's bird. The UH-1E was assigned from HML-367.

A HMM-165 Boeing Vertol Sea Knight Helicopter hovers over USS Blue Ridge's (LCC-19) helopad, while supporting operations off the coast of South Vietnam. This action was in the spring of 1975, during the final stages of the War in Vietnam.

Aboard the Blue Ridge, Amphibious Command Ship (LCC-19) - These Crew Chiefs named their birds after their pilots: "Rocky Bullwinkle.The "Moose" is shown in the standing on the left with arms folded). Note the name "Bullwinkle" painted on the huey's nose.

Dave Routson sits behind his M-60 machine gun. As crew/chief, Dave sat on the side were he could look out back to check the condition of the rear rotor ...not a necessity on CH-46 Phrogs.

ARVN CH-47 - An ARVN (Army of the Republic of Viet nam) CH-47 that landed on our the Blue Ridge un-announced. The pilot had moved all of his worldly goods on board, including his motorbikes and mother-in-law. The 165 mechanics took a close look and found they had NO OIL in the aft transmission! After putting oil in the gearbox, the helo was sent their ts way the next morning.
